Sounds that make the harbour visible

Wednesday 21 January 2015, 1 – 2pm

A screening of A Tribute to Sound, a short film by Simone Corr followed by a talk with Michael McLoughlin, Soundings Curator; Stephen Wynne, Dún Laoghaire RNLI; and Simon Coate, Dún Laoghaire Harbour Master.

Historical Kingstown / Dún Laoghaire Harbour from old photographs and illustrations

Wednesday 21 January 2015: 6:30 – 8pm

Maritime Historian Cormac F. Lowth has brought together a unique presentation with many rare images which outline the history of Dun Laoghaire Harbour from the time it was built to the present day.

Marconi: From his Attic to the Atlantic via Dún Laoghaire

Thursday 22 January 2015: 6:30 – 8pm

Marine Radio Officer Joe Varley and multi-media artist Lisa Reburn trace the footsteps of the pioneer of radio communications, Guglielmo Marconi.

Prospect and Q+A with Anthony Haughey

Saturday 24 January: 2-3.30pm

A screening of Prospect, a video piece by artist Anthony Haughey which explores migrant’s journey from sub-Saharan Africa to Europe. Followed by a Q&A with artist Anthony Haughey.

The exhibition Soundings collective memories of the sea closes on Saturday 24 January.

Artists exhibiting include Gary Coyle, Anthony Haughey, Emma Johnston, Sabina MacMahon, Julie Merriman and Lisa Reburn.
